Strength training is exercise that uses resistance to strengthen and condition the musculoskeletal system, improving muscle tone and endurance. “Strength training” is used as a general term synonymous with other common terms: “weightlifting” and “resistance training.”

However, there is a tried and true remedy that really can reverse the aging process: strength training. Yes, lifting weights is the answer to renewed vitality! Without question, no other activity has more of an impact on your overall health and well being.
Now for most athletes, if you’ve got to learn wrestling, boxing, muay thai, grappling, and deal with life on top of all of that, a 4-5 day strength training routine is not going to enhance your performance.
Recreational-type activities such as walking, tennis, etc, keep the heart and lungs somewhat conditioned, however, these kinds of activities cannot halt, let alone reverse muscle tissue loss.
Many high school and college football programs are now using a system that keeps the weight and intensity level high, and the reps low to maintain strength and power throughout the season. High intensity, lower volume workouts are the best way to maintain what the athletes worked so hard for over the summer.
A baseball strength training program should look similar to training programs of other athletes. Sport specificity is the big term used today, but really should only apply to conditioning. The idea of sport specific strength training implies the use of loading movements associated with the sport.
Most people come to me with very little experience on how to effectively balance weight training, eating correctly, and cardio / aerobic workouts. My job is to help them establish a foundation to build upon and hopefully stay committed to for the rest of their lives.
Most gyms or weight rooms set up their machines in a circuit, or group, of exercises that you perform to strengthen different groups of muscles. The basic principles of strength training involve a manipulation of the number of repetitions (reps)
Most trainers know what They Are Talking About (this applies to the vast majority of strength training articles written for females in the popular fitness magazines as well): Remember there is no national , or even state/local, licensing requirement to become a trainer.
